Programs Offered By WCJH & Katy ISD:

Wolfpack Student Ambassadors- A Wolfpack Student Ambassador is someone who represents WCJH in a positive manner and helps build community within our school.  Student Ambassadors are role models and leaders.  One of the major roles of a Student Ambassador is to provide new students with an introduction to WCJH by giving them a tour, introducing them to their teachers and providing them with a familiar face.  A Wolfpack member can be from 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.  Student Ambassadors are nominated by a faculty member, and then receive an application that must be submitted to the Counseling Office.  Counselors review applications and notify students that are chosen to be Student Ambassadors.

KEYS Mentoring- Keep Encouraging Youth Toward Success (KEYS) is a district program that matches a caring adult with a student on the brink of success.  The primary focus is on relationship building rather than tutoring, although we've found that increased student academic success often occurs.  A KEYS Mentor meets with one student once per week on campus.  All mentors must make a one school year commitment to a student and complete an application and background check.  If you are interested in becoming a KEYS Mentor please contact Mrs. Clay, the WCJH KEYS Liaison.

Character Strong- The counselors and teachers at WCJH deliver lessons on social-emotional learning (SEL) throughout the school year.  Social-emotional lessons teach students self-management skills; how to persevere; how to develop social awareness and relationship skills to work well with others; and how to make responsible decisions.  We believe students need SEL skills in order to be successful.  Therefore, we use the Character Strong program to teach these skills.  Character Strong facilitates the teaching of SEL skills in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms.

KISD Legacy Parent Academy- The Legacy Parent Academy is a series of informational sessions designed to assist parents by providing valuable information that relates to topics that go beyond the academic experience.  In today's world, we know parents and guardians are faced with decisions that will profoundly impact the future growth and development of their students.  The goal of the Legacy Parent Academy is to equip parents with strategies and techniques to support their students.  All parents and guardians of Katy ISD students are welcome to attend.   During previous sessions, experts presented on topics that addressed emotional well-being, college preparedness, and college financial aid.  To view the topics for the 2020-2021 school year, click the "Legacy Parent Academy" button below .  All sessions for this school year will be held via zoom webinar.
